Melbourne-born Mark Regev has presented his credentials as Israel’s ambassador to the United Kingdom.

56-yr-old Regev [born Freiberg] is a former pupil of Melbourne’s Mount Scopus College and a graduate of Melbourne University. He made aliyah in 1982.

He joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1990 serving in Washington, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Regev tweeted: “It’s now official. Presented my credentials @foreignoffice as Israel’s UK Ambassador. Excited to be here.”

Ambassador Regev is married with three children.

    Mark Regev was such an articulate spokesperson for the Netanyahu government when responding to foreign media. He’s an intelligent, forthright and clear-speaking man. I hope he can affect the likes of Jermey Corbyn while in the UK.
