The Ambassador Programme nominates “high achieving Australians” to give the Australia Day Address at Citizenship Ceremonies and other events.

This was the 6th time Jeremy Jones has been given the honour of being an Ambassador, with this his 5th visit to rural NSW.

Telling his story as a Jewish Australian whose family came to this country in the 1850’s and has benefitted from the multicultural ethos, he spoke about his work in Australia and globally promoting interfaith collaboration and in fighting racism.

“The community of Gundagai were warm, welcoming and expressed support for keeping racism and racists marginalised and in building communities which encourage each individual to contribute to the best of their ability”, Mr Jones said.

“On Australia Day, we are encouraged to reflect on our achievements and also our challenges as a Nation and it is wonderful to see how so many Australians are engaged in this national conversation” Mr Jones added.
