Allan Bermeister passes away
Magen David Adom has lost one of its most stalwart supporters in the passing of former NSW president Allan Bermeister.
He was also an Honorary Life Governor of the organisation.
Current president Roland Nagel issued a statement saying: “Allan dedicated his life to Magen David Adom, joining the Board in 2008, becoming Vice-President in 2010 andPresident from 2011 to 2014 after which he was appointed immediate Past President.
Upon being awarded the Honorary Life Governorship, Magen David Adom Israel commended Allan for bringing in a range of innovative ideas, initiating First Aid training programs and a series of First Aid booklets, commencing a series of business and professional luncheons and growing our membership base.
But above all, Allan was the quintessential mentsch. He left this world on 18 (Chai) Elul, the date of the Baal Shem Tov’s birthday. Baal Shem Tov means the owner of a good name. Allan certainly “owned” this title. He was a kind, considerate, selfless and warm individual who loved his family, Israel, his Jewish values and his fellow human being.
We extend our deepest condolences to his loving wife Linda, dedicated children Kevin & Bev, Yitzchak & Liat, Rebecca, Ilana & Jeff and their 16 beautiful grandchildren.’
