Adelaide community alarmed at rise of anti-semitic activities
The president of the Jewish Community Council of South Australia is concerned about antisemitic posters appearing in Adelaide, including one on the walls of a synagogue.
Norman Schueler hopes that it may be possible to prosecute those who post hate messages distributed by the White Power Group Antipodean Resistance.
He told J-Wire: “The posters pasted on the Beit Shalom Synagogue’s walls were out of the range of CCTV cameras.”
He added that the state police will work with ASIO to investigate the incidents.
Talking about the rise of antisemitic incidents in SA he said: “In the last six or 12 months, it has changed here in South Australia. It is directly linked to Antipodean Resistance. They are recruiting people to their ideology. It is reminiscent of the 1930s in Germany.”
Schueler emphasised that the law has to be changed to deal with these type of crimes effectively.”
