Paul Steiner from Adelaide took this image of the Jordan river following torrential downpours in Israel.

Jordan in full flood

Steiner writes: This is a photo I took (with my phone) of the Jordan river at about noon today, from Sde Nehemia (just outside my office). By the end of the day, the river had risen much more, and was flowing with a width of about 50 meters across. Obviously the middle section in the photo is what is the normal path of the river – the trees in the middle usually line its banks. The river Jordan is indeed deep and wide. More rain is forecast until Friday when it will stop, and then it is supposed to resume again on Saturday. There is still hope for the Kinneret.”

Paul Steiner’s wife Ruth is the daughter of SYdney identities Ian and Josie Lacey. The Steiners have lived in Israel for 24 years.
