ADC says “no” to UNHRC encouraging boycotting settlements
The B’nai Brith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has denounced the passing of a series of anti-Israel resolutions by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) which includes a vote that bolsters the shameful BDS campaign by encouraging businesses to boycott Israeli settlements.
According to the ADC. the call implies a punitive backlash for those engaged in financial dealings with Israeli settlements.
Chairman of the ADC, Dr Dvir Abramovich said:
“I am dismayed that the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has once again displayed its continuing obsession with Israel and has, through its actions, endorsed the shameful and illegitimate BDS campaign against a member state. This prejudicial move, proposed by several countries with appalling human rights records, completely undermines the credibility of this body and will only harm the peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians currently underway. What is also troubling is that not a single European member of the UNHRC objected to this blatant demonization, instead voting to egregiously attack and isolate Israel. We thank the United States for being the only state to vote against this one-sided resolution and are heartened by the courageous statement from Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Paula Schriefer who decried the passage of this biased and unjust resolution.”
