Active COVID-19 cases down to five at Melbourne’s Jewish Care residential home
Of the 33 Elders who contracted COVID-19 at Jewish Care’s residential home in Windsor, two sadly passed away and 31 have now been found negative of the virus.
There are now just five active staff cases.
Testing of elders occurred on Friday. While there are no active elder cases and infected staff are isolating at home, testing will continue on a 72-hour cycle and strict lockdown protocols are to be maintained under the direction of DHHS Public Health Unit.
Jewish Care reports: “All elders are well and displaying no signs and symptoms of the virus and they continue to receive care from our staff with clinical oversight from our Clinical Care Coordinator, their GPs and Alfred Health in-reach services.
As of tomorrow, the Federal Department of Health, through Victorian Aged Care Response Centre, will be publishing a weekly COVID-19 data snapshot for Victoria. This report will provide a high-level overview of the COVID-19 situation in Victorian aged care. It will include statistics for those facilities which have had more than one positive case. This will include a breakdown of resident and staff positive cases (including current active cases) as well as deaths. The cases we have reported to our community include:
- – 33 Elders
2 passed 31 cleared - – 32 Staff 5 active casesWe understand the numbers published by the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre may vary from the above because they may include linked cases where family/housemates have tested positive. We have not been advised of these cases.
We continue to work with the Department of Health & Human Services, Alfred Health and the Commonwealth Department of Health to support the wellbeing of our elders and staff and are adhering to directives by the State and Federal authorities.
