ABC’s Dr Karl Visits Masada
Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, ABC-TV’s Dr Karl, entertained students and staff for two hours on his recent visit to Sydney’s Masada College…on subjects from science.
Masada invited Ravenswood and Brigidine College students to join them in the audience. Kruszelnicki has degrees in Physics and Maths, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine and Surgery and has worked as a physicist, tutor, film-maker, car mechanic, labourer, and as a medical doctor at the Childrens’ Hospital in Sydney. Dr Karl launched straight into the wonders of science and guided the audience through topics such as global warming, genetic engineering and space travel. He left the students inspired, bemused and eager to know more, which is not surprising as his website states “His enthusiasm for science is totally infectious and no one is better able to convey the excitement and wonder of it all than Dr Karl Kruszelnicki”. Masada Year 12 student Guy Bortz said “Dr Karl was so engaging and amusing that I was interested in all he had to say and found the science both confronting and fascinating. He inspired me to think in a different way about things”.
