Abbott pledges support for Israel
President of the Zionist Federation of Australia Philip Chester, today read out a message to the organisation’s plenary conference in Sydney from Leader if the Opposition Tony Abbott pledging support for Israel if his party wins the upcoming election.
In his letter to the ZFA Abbott wrote: “I also reaffirm the Coalition’s commitment to an enduring friendship with Israel. We will restore the traditionally close relationship between our two nations.”
J-Wire asked Chester if he had received any message from Rudd but the ZFA president could not recall if one had been asked for.
Leaders of WIZO, the Union for Progressive Judaism, the United Israel Appeal and Zionist Council of Victoria also addressed the conference.
UIA’s Harold Finger expressed concern about the attitude of the younger members of the community towards Israel and Judaism and UPJ’s Steve Denenberg point out that the percentage of Haredi in Israel equated to the number of Israelis who embraced the Progressive movement and called for religious equality citing Israel’s policy at the time of attaining independence offering freedom of religion. He pointed out that Progressive Jews were bound by the laws as they impacted on the Haredi.
Let’s absurdly assume that Steve Dannenberg understands the principal tenets of Judaism. But I cannot give in to absurdities, so when Dannenberg refers to “equality” of religion(S) he would mean that what he and his mates follow would be a distinct religion from the so called Haredi one.
I could never agree with Steve, but now I DO !!!
Taking into account The Foreign Office explains article, you don’t really believe Tont Abbott’s “Pledge to support Israel” would be any different do you?
Now if it had’ve been Malcolm Turnball making the claims, it would’ve been a more reasonable probability, if a possibility and you would know where you stand.
With virulently anti-Jewish opportunists like Bob Carr and the green senator with the hyphenated name in the Senat (and terrifyingly holding the balance of power) there is no way that Labor/Greens will stop siding with those who want to see Israel (and the Jewish people) wiped of the map.
I commend Tony Abbott for being more ethical that the Left and not feeding the recurring virus of Judenhass which seems to have infected them, but I would really be extremely relieved if one of our political parties would show the intelligence and moral strength to leave the UN – which has become a dangerous parody of what it was originally.
