Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr recently visited Yad Vashem where he layed a wreath described his feelings in the visitors’ book….this is what he wrote.

Laying the wreath

“This Memorial makes me think of the children caught in the French roundups of mid-1942 and separated from their families when their parents and older brothers and sisters were transported from Drancy transit camp in Paris, via Le Bourget railway station, to Auschwitz.

For days the under-14 year olds were held in crowded unsanitary conditions – before an order from Berlin saw them too marched by French police to the railway station and sealed in the trains, where they vanished from history.”
