Following the naming of a beachside area ‘Netanya Park’ in Surfers Paradise, Israeli city Netanya is to name a soon-to-be-built suburb after the City of Gold Coast.

Mayor Tom Tate

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate and Netanya Mayor Miriam Fierberg continue to develop an important Sister City relationship between the beachside capitals that began back in 1987.

Mayor Fierberg

Mayor Fierberg wrote to Mayor Tate saying ‘the naming of the beachside in the tourist area of Surfers Paradise is a beautiful gesture”.

In the letter, she told Tom Tate that a new quarter to be built in Netanya has received approval to be named after The Gold Coast.
