The Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten and the Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Australia Tony Burke have sent Rosh Hashanah greetings.

Bill Shorten

They stated: “On behalf of Federal Labor we extend our warmest wishes to Jewish communities in Australia and around the world on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah.

Rosh Hashanah is a celebration of the Jewish New Year and marks the beginning of the High Holidays, a period of celebration which lasts ten days.

It is a time of reflection, forgiveness and renewed hope for a prosperous year ahead with families, friends and communities.

Tony Burke

We are grateful for the contributions the Australian Jewish community have made towards enhancing our image of a modern multicultural society.

As the shofar is blown in acknowledgment of this joyous day and families share the sweet fruits of the season, may this occasion unite us all in peace and harmony as Australians.
