A Relative Stranger
Australian movie director Kane Senes has just finished shooting his feature film “A Relative Stranger” in Austin, Texas.
The film, set in 1866, tells the story of a civil war veteran who returns home to his brother-in-law’s farm in rural Texas. There he discovers a neighboring family has been stealing from his own and incites a conflict with tragic consequences to all.
Sydney-born Senes, who wrote the script with writing and producing partner John Chriss, attracted name actors in the States such as “Iron Man 3” and “The Lone Ranger: actor James Badge Dale, William Forsythe, Ethan Embry and Australian rising star Rhys Wakefield.
“It all started with the script. We were very fortunate to get the actors that we did. For me, casting is eighty percent of the job and these are extremely qualified and talented actors with huge experience” Senes told J-Wire.
The film shot for twenty-five days and is now in post production in Los Angeles. Senes expects the film to show strongly on the festival circuit, with eyes on the prestigious SXSW festival in Austin and the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
Senes and Chriss are currently writing their next film, a dark thriller about a young painter in modern-day New York City.
Kane Senes added: “The trick to this business is to never stop moving, which suits us fine. I can’t sit still for a minute.”
