A new kid on the block…and a big one too
Sydney’s Kashrut Authority has granted a Kosher licence to the International Convention Centre at the rebuilt exhibition space Darling Harbour.
At a cocktail reception serving kosher canapés, the KA’s Rabbi Moshe Gutnick and Rabbi Aaron Groner presented the ICC’s CEO Geoff Donaghy with the framed document granting certification.
A spokesperson for the ICC told J-Wire: “The capacity of the Ballroom, the kitchen for which has received the license from the Kashrut Authority, is 2,000 people. The minimum number required to book the ballroom, in a reduced mode, is 600 people.”
The first Jewish community event currently scheduled is the Jewish House Annual Gala Dinner in November.
There is massive parking facilities in the Centre and the ICC has told J-Wire that events hosts will have the option to prepay guests’ parking costs.
Rabbi Groner said: “The facilities will not be available to outside caterers.”
