A message from Dominic Perrottet and Mark Coure
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottett and Minister for Multiculurism Mark Coure offer their warm wishes to the New South Wales Jewish community for the High Holy Days.
In a joint statement, they said: “The Holy Days include Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah, and mark a moment for deep spiritual reflection.
We recognise that Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year celebrating renewal, which also begins the Ten Days of Repentance, and Yom Kippur, the holiest day of all, are among the most significant periods for prayer, repentance, feasting, fasting and charity.
As Jewish families and communities unite in prayer, they share in the blessings for what will be a prosperous year ahead.
The NSW Government sincerely appreciates the contributions the Jewish community makes to our State, as the great values upon which Judaism are based, are shared by all.
In particular, we acknowledge and thank the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies for leading interfaith dialogue, combating hate and vilification, fostering social inclusion and harmony, and supporting many cultural and religious groups across the state.
May the High Holy Days be a spiritually rewarding time for you all.”
