A Load of Hot Air
Hot air balloon enthusiasts have departed on a round-the-world mission – beginning in Israel and including Australia.
A group of 15 pilots began their harebrained idea last Thursday over Mount Gilboa, Yediot Aharonoth reported.
Moran Itzkovich, 34, from Kibbutz Ruhama is the group’s leader.
During the global odyssey, he and the other pilots hope to fly over scores of countries in five continents – including Australia – which will take them more than one year.
“It takes a lot of logistics,” he told Ynet. “Because we don’t fly with the balloon over the sea, we must send our equipment from continent to continent. That’s the practical way of doing it when you live a relatively normal life with a family and kids.”
“We already have a plan for Australia and America, and we’ll see how we take it from there,” he said. He said the idea was based on the notion of freedom.
