JNF Blue Box needs emptying?…call Paul
“I’ll travel anywhere to collect for JNF”, says Sydneysider Paul Lowinger.
Even New York.
Paul Lowinger is well-known in JNF circles as one of the most successful volunteers in its Blue Box campaigns.
In the aftermath of the October 7 terrorist attacks, Australians have stepped up to support Israel. JNF’s focus this year has been to help restore the kibbutzim damaged in the attacks.
Kibbutz Be’eri is one of the recipients of JNF’s funds. Located near the WWI ANZAC Memorial, it has close ties to Australia.
Founded in 1946, Be’eri has grown from 150 people to over 1,000. It lost over 130 lives, the most of any community. Little is known of the 31 hostages that were taken and still missing.
Prior to the attack, Be’eri had good relations with the Gazans who worked on the kibbutz, which had a medical fund to provide for their health care.
Paul Lowinger, JNF stalwart in Sydney, was visiting his cousin, former Sydneysider George Klas, in the Big Apple. George’s Blue Box needed emptying and Paul obliged.
George pointed out: “They’re real dollars,”
“We have to do more and an end of year mitzvah is just a click away,” Paul told J-Wire.
