Mary Delahunty plans to establish a Jewish Youth Advisory Council with membership of 25 people to come from the youth group movement in the Melbourne seat of Macnamara.

Councillor and former Mayor of the City of Glen Eira, Mary Delahunty is campaigning for preselection in the seat of Macnamara after the recent retirement of Michael Danby MP and has promised, if successful to formalise the input of the Jewish Youth into the Labor party policy platform.

The seat was formerly Melbourne Ports and has some of the nation’s most active Jewish Youth Groups.

Cr Delahunty says youth groups play a vital role fostering a modern understanding of religion, but also a place for our young Australians to find meaningful friendship with a social purpose.

She added: “I have been working with the Jewish Youth Groups for months now, understanding what our young people are telling us about their needs from the political system.

The genuine interests and insights our youth have on party politics, issues of national significance and issues in the geo political realm has been fascinating to discuss” Delahunty commented

Our youth groups are so vital to further strengthening Judaism in Australia, it is right and proper that we formalise a dialogue and allow them a direct method to influence Labor policy through their local representative.”

As a McNamara (former Melbourne Ports) voter since 1980 Mary Delahunty would be a good ALP candidate with a good track record in politics if pre-selected by the ALP factional warlords. However she probably will not be pre selected because she is a woman in the ALP boys club.

See told you so, a man Josh Burns has been pre-selected by the ALP factional warlords.
