The NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams sends a Chanukah greeting….

Ray Williams

I am delighted to wish Jewish residents of NSW a very happy Chanukah.

NSW is now home to nearly 37,000 residents who follow the Jewish faith and Chanukah is an important event on our religious calendar.

As we reflect on the Chanukah miracle, we commemorate that despite the desecration of the Temple of Jerusalem, a single jar of oil miraculously lit the Menorah, which lasted for eight days.

The spirit of pressing on despite great challenges and emerging even stronger is one of the defining features of the Jewish people.

At this special time of year, I thank the Australian Jewish community for its commitment to interfaith dialogue and building and maintaining social harmony in NSW.
