Sydney-based Simon told J-Wire: “I really didn’t expect. I’ve always believed that there is nothing more past than a past president.”

In a letter received last week by Robert Simons, President Ashe Cohen and Rector Professor Barak Medina said: “The Senate wishes to acknowledge your outstanding contribution and commitment to the Hebrew University via your involvement spanning 26 years with the Australian Friends of the Hebrew University

Mentioning that Robert Simons has now the role of Honorary Chairman they wrote:,” We are confident that you will continue  your legacy of guiding the Hebrew University of Jerusalem to new heights in terms of its recognition in Australia and strive to raise its profile.”

The doctorate will be conferred during the Board of Governors gathering on June 11th.
