A dance event to memorialise the Nova dance event
More than 2,500 people flocked to Melbourne’s Caulfield Racecourse Reserve on Tuesday night to take part in Zionism Victoria & Habayit’s We Will Dance Again: Nova Tribute.
Marking 150 days since the horrors of October 7th, the event was dedicated to the victims of the Nova Music Festival massacre, many of whom had family and friends in our own community, including the incredible DJs who performed during the evening.
As well as the DJ sets, the thousands of participants were also treated to a performance by the Halev Choir and had a chance to see a truly moving installation featuring the post-October 7th artworks of Israeli artist Shoshke.
Zionism Victoria executive director Zeddy Lawrence said: “I think it’s fair to say this was like no event the Jewish community here had ever seen before, not only in terms of what was on offer but in terms of the crowd that attended and the overall vibe.
You didn’t have to be a fan of doof doof DJ music to know that this was something unique and special..
One thing though that it did have in common with our other rallies and gatherings since October 7th was the underlying message – honouring the victims, demanding the release of the hostages and demonstrating solidarity with Israel.”
