CAMERA has recently expanded its operations and has opened a new bureau in Jerusalem from where it will be monitoring the media in Europe and other parts of the world, including the South Pacific region.
I was fortunate as the J-Wire correspondent, to attend a briefing given by him which covered a wide range of relevant topics and dealt with challenges facing those who are fighting the inaccurate reporting in the media and the revisionist trends now taking hold in many Christian Churches.
Mr. Van Zile who is based in the USA, has written and spoken extensively on the persecution of Christians in Arab & Moslem countries, how the international media as well as Churches of all denominations ignore this ongoing campaign and the increasingly virulent anti Israel/Jewish agendas of many Churches. He covered all these topics as well as supercessionist theology as well as liberation theology as propounded by the Palestinian Christian Churches. All these have one common denominator which is the demonization and delegitimization of the Jewish State.

Apparently it is becoming hip & cool to embrace the Palestinian Arab narrative and peddle every myth which can prove the illegitimacy of the Jewish connection to Israel. In a most telling comment, he stated that because the Jewish State continues to achieve more success in every field, this poses a threat to the theological belief that Judaism and the Jews are no longer valid. Therefore it follows that those who believe in this warped vision must take out their frustrations ever more virulently against Israel.
A conference being held in Bethlehem and entitled “Christ at the checkpoint” is opening this week. The Prime Minister of the PA is opening it and if previous such conferences are anything to go by it will prove to be another hate fest fostered and sponsored by many major Christian denominations. Mr. Van Zile is here to monitor this conference and no doubt we will be hearing much more from him about the ongoing efforts by certain Christian Churches to hijack and distort the Jewish connection to its ancient homeland.
Some Australian and New Zealand Churches are also involved in many of these revisionist activities and therefore it is very important for Jewish groups as well as the Council of Christians and Jews to monitor and respond forcefully when faced with tendentious claims and accusations. As proven by Mr. Van Zile, only a concerted effort to expose the delegitimizers can avert an avalanche of lies becoming accepted as the truth.
