Two Australian financial legends have carried out the tradition of opening the ark at Neilah, the closing service for Yom Kippur at Sydney’s Central Synagogue, for around 25 years.

The service can take up to an hour, but 89-year-old Harry Triguboff and 91-year-old Sir Frank Lowy steadfastly maintained the tradition for yet another Yom Kippur.

The Central’s Rabbi Levi Wolff said.  “It is something they both deeply treasure and look forward to all year! May they be blessed with health and strength to continue this beautiful tradition for many years.”

This year, photographer Nadine Saacks was on hand when the Havdalah prayers were completed and the final shofar blown by Rabbi Wolff, marking the end of the fast to capture the two men completing their joint Neilah task for this year.
