Israeli journalist to speak on German society

Eldad Beck the Berlin-based correspondent of the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth since 2002 will speak to the Melbourne community on German society from the Shoah to the present day.

Beck’s recent book, Germany at Odds, is his account as Israeli journalist living and working in Germany at the beginning of the 21st century. Beck questions many assumptions about “the new Germany” and examines whether Germany has really confronted its past.

Born in Haifa in 1965, Eldad Beck studied Arabic and Islam at the Sorbonne University in Paris. He served as Middle East Affairs correspondent for IDF Radio and the newspaper Hadashot as well as the Paris-based correspondent of IDF Radio, the Jerusalem Report, the Jerusalem Post, and Israel’s Channel 2.

Beck will speak to the event organised by The Jewish Holocaust Centre, Zionism Victoria and th Lamm Jewish Library of Australia on Sunday February 28 at 4pm at the JHC, 13-15 Selwyn St, Elsternwick,
