Melbourne’s Jewish Care’s 2015 Annual General Meeting included a panel discussion titled ‘The Next Generation: Tomorrow’s Change Leaders’.

Significant achievements from the past year that were outlined included providing care and support to approximately 5000 people in the community, distributing $1,139,396 worth of Jump Start Interest Free Loans; and providing 62,584 hours of support via the Holocaust Survivor Support Program and 21,265 hours of care for children and adults with disability at Jewish Care Respite Centres.

Jewish Care CEO, Bill Appleby said: “When I look back on the past 6 years as CEO, if fills me with great pride to say that I have never felt more confident that this organisation is moving in the right direction.”

Jewish Care President, Mike Debinski addressed the progress of Jewish Care’s Strategic Plan ‘Towards Tomorrow’, which continues to guide the fulfilling vision of supporting and enhancing the wellbeing of the Victorian Jewish community. Jewish Care’s Capital Campaign Growing. For Our Community – a key part of this Plan and the largest investment in community infrastructure in Australian Jewish history, has impressively received pledges of almost $12 million to date and the first of its 6 projects, The Coppel & Piekarski Family Disability Respite Centre will open in early 2016.

The AGM also hosted a panel of inspiring guests to present on the topic of ‘The Next Generation: Tomorrow’s Change Leaders’. The panel featured Dean Cohen, Founder of Camp Sababa Melbourne; Romy Katz, Founder of Agents for Change; and Amanda Miller, Co-Founder of Impact Generation Partners. The thought-provoking panel discussion, led by Jewish Care’s General Manager Community, Mark Joel explored the values of our millennial generation, and the unconventional positive change they are making to our community through social enterprises, start-ups, impact investing and family philanthropy.

The Life Governor Award was presented to Bruce Rosengarten who served as President from 2009-2012. In speaking about Mr. Rosengarten’s achievements, Mike Debinski paid tribute to his tireless contributions in revitalising and transforming Jewish Care into a modern and professional service provider, and a leader in service innovation and care provisions.
