50 years since the Yom Kippur War: KKL – JNF unveils rare photos from the battlefield for the first time
The Yom Kippur War broke out on Yom Kippur, October 6, 1973, with an attack by Arab armies against Israel, led by Syria and Egypt, with support from Arab states, primarily Iraq and Jordan.
The war primarily took place in the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights, lasting until October 24, 1973, when the ceasefire came into effect.
Now, 50 years later, KKL – JNF unveils rare photos of the Israel Defense Forces soldiers from the war that left its mark on Israel’s heritage forever.
Efrat Sini, Director of the Archives Division KKL – JNF, said: “On the 50th anniversary of the fateful Yom Kippur War, KKL – JNF archive reveals photos for the first time that depict the soldiers of the IDF who fought bravely in intense battles over many days.
