New president for the AICC [NSW]
Jillian Segal is the new president of the NSW branch of the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce.
After a 25-year-long association with Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce (AICC), Kim Jacobs will be stepping down in February 2015 as President. He will be replaced by Jillian Segal, who joined the Board in 2013. Jacobs spent 14 years as the organisation’s president.
Lee Roberts will also be retiring as a Non-Executive Director after 6 years of service on the Board.
Jillian Segal has a strong reputation and profile across the corporate, public and non-for-profit sectors in Australia and Jacobs is confident that she will continue to develop the Chamber.
When J-Wire asked Segal about future plans, she said it was important that the organisation responds to change and continues to evolve.
“We have to keep up and make sure it stays preeminent in terms of event management and networking” she said.
“With a new CEO, the Chamber is at an interesting point in its development. Enhancing mutual trade with Israel will be an important part of the agenda, not just in technology and innovation but in other areas as well” said Segal.
She would like to further engage Jewish participation in Chamber events, particularly in Sydney.
“The Chamber has been an integral part of my life and has provided me with the opportunity to help bring together a deeper understanding and closer relationship between two countries and two peoples that I am passionate about” said Kim Jacobs.
There is no greater reward than to see both Australians and Israelis at a business, government and cultural level, see each other’s country for the first time and understand the unlimited possibilities for collaboration, education and innovation together” he said.
He gave credit to management and staff at all Chambers for their hard work in organising many events and trade missions every year.
Charles Nightingale, CEO said that “We will all certainly miss Kim’s inimitable sense of humour and witty personality at Board meetings, but will no doubt see him at many Chamber events going forward.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Jillian and benefit from the good council her extensive experience will provide. The Board and I would very much like to thank Kim for all he has done for the Chamber. He will no doubt continue to be a brand ambassador and will retain his membership of the AICC and we wish him every success and good luck for the future” said Nightingale.
