Before a record turnout and introduced by lifelong friend Cheryl Bart, Makler was in conversation with Margaret Gutman, a long time Board Member at the Museum.

Over 170 Book Club guests heard the engaging author speak about her two books, Woman in Kabul  and Hope Street Jerusalem.   Makler gave us an insight into life as a woman correspondent living and working in the Middle East. Her stories about the relationships she has with the women of Gaza Beauty Shops, together with living on the streets of Jerusalem  were fascinating.  Hope Street Jerusalem charts the journey of a Bondi girl to ABC journalist, correspondent and author, covering the war on terror and the Arab Spring.  Both books are available from the Gift Shop at the SJM.
