12-year-old dies of bus shooting injuries
A 12-year-old boy injured in a Wednesday night Palestinian shooting attack died, doctors at the Hadassah-Ein Kerem Medical Center said on Thursday morning.
Three other victims were injured when a Palestinian opened fire on a bus in the Gush Etzion region south of Jerusalem.
Israeli security forces launched a manhunt, setting up roadblocks around Bethlehem.
“We quickly arrived at the scene, saw the bus with passengers. We did a quick scan and saw a 12-year-old boy with gunshot wounds to his upper body. We gave him life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care ambulance to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, continuing treatment while we fought for his life,” Magen David Adom paramedic Elhai Sofer and senior MDA medic Yaakov Greenwald said.
“A 40-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the limbs. She was fully conscious and her condition was classified as moderate and she was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital. Two other people were evacuated from the scene with minor injuries from broken glass.
The municipality of Beitar Illit said the boy, whose name has not been released, was travelling home.
