Alhadeff tells the story of Greece’s Jews in the Holocaust
The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff has spoken about The Holocaust in Greece at the Greek Festival of Sydney.
The festival is a month-long calendar of presentations, concerts, music, speeches and celebration of Greek history and culture and the Greek story.
About 100 people attended Alhadeff’s presentation at the Prince Henry theatre in Little Bay.
Vic Alhadeff told J-Wire: “It was important to include the story of the Holocaust in Greece in the Sydney Greek Festival, and we acknowledge the organisers for giving me the opportunity to do so. The percentage of the Jewish community of Greece who perished was one of the highest in the Holocaust, while at the same time there were some extraordinary acts of courage which saved several thousand Greek Jews.”
Vic Alhadeff’s family was settled on the island of Rhodes. 50,000 Greek Jews met their death during the Holocaust.
